Poringland Neighbourhood Plan
REFERENDUM
Thursday 8th July 2021
The Poringland Neighbourhood Plan was submitted to South Norfolk Council in May 2019.
Following an initial examination of the Neighbourhood Plan, which was completed in January 2020, South Norfolk Council proposed to accept each of the examiner’s recommendations apart from that relating to Policy 2 ‘Housing-scale’. Following a further consultation on this proposal and a subsequent examination of the Council’s alternative modification to Policy 2 (in which the second examiner recommended a modification to the Council’s proposal), South Norfolk Council proposed to make a further amendment to the second examiner’s modification. This was in order for the policy to achieve the clarity required by the National Planning Policy Framework. This proposal was subject to a further consultation in February/March 2021.
Following consideration of the representations received, South Norfolk Council has now published its final Decision Statement in relation to each of the recommendations by both examiners and this is available to view below. Also available to view is the submission version of the Neighbourhood Plan, the reports of the first and second examiner, and a summary of representations received during both consultations on the Policy 2 issue.
Subject to these modifications being made, South Norfolk Council has approved that the Neighbourhood Plan should proceed to a referendum in the parish.
A local referendum will be held on Thursday 8 July 2021 in order to determine whether the residents of Poringland support the proposed Poringland Neighbourhood Plan. The question that will be asked of local electors is:
Do you want South Norfolk Council to use the neighbourhood plan for Poringland to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?

A lot of work has gone into the Neighbourhood Plan since we started the project in 2018. Numerous consultations have been held and and it has taken some time to translate the wishes of the village into tangible planning policies that, if it is so wished, can be used to determine planning applications in Poringland.
We are holding two events that will help explain the Neighbourhood Plan, its policies and the referendum process. Both events are drop-in events at Poringland Community Centre, so feel free to pop in at a time that suits you. The dates are:
