Poringland Parish Council is the most local tier of government in your area.
Some of our key areas of work include:
- Responding to local planning applications and engaging with developers for larger housing developments, to ensure that the needs of the local community are met.
- Liaising with the Highways Authority (Norfolk County Council) regarding all aspects of traffic movement in and around the village.
- Ensuring that the community is safe by producing a local emergency plan for use if a major incident should occur.
- Providing recreational facilities within the village, including the Community Centre, Welcome Home and Memorial Playing Field, Leisure Garden, and numerous play areas.
- Providing street furniture including seats, grit bins, dog bins, notice boards, bus shelters and much more.
- Managing the cemetery in Rectory Lane.
The Parish Council is also responsible for the war memorial which is located at the Memorial Garden next to All Saints Church.
At all times the Parish Council is working to ensure that the views and needs of the community are represented at all tiers of government, including district and county councils, and with national government. The Council liaises with key partners such as adjoining parish councils, the Strategic Six group and the Six Youth Council (6YC).
The Parish Council is your first point of contact for any community issues - if your query is not something that falls within our remit, we would be more than happy to either signpost you to the right agency, or take up the matter on your behalf.
