Anglian Water Update 18.12.17

As expected, we completed our final connection on The Street and were able to remove the traffic lights on Wednesday. I am sure that this has been a huge relief for residents, road users and councillors- we are all thrilled that we have managed to complete the service connections on time; it hasn’t been easy and the teams have worked incredibly hard to achieve this.
Thank you very much for bearing with us and for your support in communicating with the community, it really has been invaluable.
Moving forward..
Next week, we will be completing some disconnections, removing the manholes and reinstating the road surface on Caistor Lane and Shotesham Road. We do not expect to use any traffic management other than Stop and Go boards where required and our teams will work around peak hours to minimise the disruption to traffic.
As previously confirmed, we have further decommissioning work to complete in January. This work has not been able to be completed yet as we can’t carry out this work until we are 100% certain all properties are connected to the new main. Next week we will switch off the supply to the old main and then in January we will be able to cut and cap sections of pipe that we need to, to complete the decommissioning. This will involve short periods of traffic management at approx.. three locations and I will provide details of this next week; apologies I haven’t been able to confirm our final plans for this yet.

•    Elvins Garage service connection completed
•    Final service connection completed at Oak Avenue
•    Connection completed in the footpath outside the village hall, but it emerged that this was not actually the supply to the village hall as expected. We are now trying to locate the service supplying the village hall and hoping to complete that connection today.
•    We have begun installing the main in the footpath alongside The Street,  towards Springfields.
•    Completing one missed service on the other side of Budgens roundabout, hope to complete Monday
•    We are identifying all missed services (not shown on plans or visible on physical inspection) before we make the final connection at Springfields, as at that point the old main will be completely out of service and any missed services would lose water supply. We have identified a few on The Street and are working to complete those over the next few days.
•    As confirmed in my previous email, the lights will remain in place until we complete our final connection, to ensure the safety of the team.

•    Complete missed service connection on the other side of Budgens Roundabout on Monday.
•    Complete final connection in the footpath at Springfields.

We remain on track to complete the final service connection by 14th December 2017, however the permit is in place until 15th just in case the extra day is required.

•    We have permission from the Highways Authority to begin our decommissioning and reinstatement works in this week. We do not expect to use any traffic management other than Stop and Go boards where required. This work involves the removal of manholes and then reinstatement where the manhole has been. Our teams will work around peak hours to minimise the disruption to traffic.

Weekly update:

Friday - moved 2-way lights to Oak Avenue to complete the final service connection at this location. We will begin work on this connection tomorrow.

Sunday -  Our site manager has discussed the Santa Run with the organiser, Tal Williams, and we have agreed to ensure that the path is kept clear and our team will act as marshalls to ensure participants safely pass our works. We will also begin the work at Elvins Garage in the footpath- no traffic management will be required at this location but the lights will still be in place at Oak Avenue.

Monday -Complete Oak Avenue connection and reinstate road surface.

Tuesday- Move three-way lights back to the Footpath to complete the connection to the village hall.

Wed, Thurs , Fri- We will be working in the footpath alongside The Street, installing the main in the path towards Springfields, where we will complete the connection.

I haven't yet been given details of next weekends work so I will update you on this in next Fridays update- depending on the weeks progress it may not be required. There shouldn't be any traffic management in place from Wednesday 06 December onward, unless there ae any unforeseen circumstances.
