Anglian Water Update 24.01.18

25/1/2018

We are putting temporary traffic lights up tomorrow, between the hours of 9:30am and 3:00pm; to complete the permanent reinstatement of the road surface near to Elvins roundabout, where the emergency lights were positioned to get the customer back onto water last week. This is only going to be one days work.
On Monday, we will erect the 2 way lights at 96 The Street (next to Budgens roundabout) to complete the final section of work under traffic management. We expect this to take approx.. three days and traffic management will be in place 24/7 for the duration.
This is the last of the planned work under traffic management, however we will still be visibly working in the area for the next two-three weeks.

Update from Anglian Water regarding lights near Elvins

18/1/2018

The traffic management in use at this location is not planned as part of the water mains replacement scheme. This is emergency works due to an unplanned interruption to a customers water supply.

Our teams are working to return the supply to the customers property and the traffic lights will be removed as soon as this vital repair work is complete, which we expect to be by tomorrow morning.

There is one more planned section of traffic management for the scheme and this will involve 2 way lights at 96 the street (next to Budgens roundabout).

I am sorry that we have not been able to communicate this in advance- I am requesting that the electronic signage is updated now.

Anglian Water Update 11.01.18

Please see below update on our decommissioning works in the area:

This week
•    Caistor Lane is currently being reinstated and we hope to remove the temporary traffic lights by 4pm today.
•    3-way temporary traffic lights will be erected at Arminghall lane tomorrow morning to complete the decommissioning work at this location. We hope to complete this section and remove the temporary traffic lights this Saturday. The site manager intends to only have these traffic lights in place during work hours, unless it becomes unsafe to remove them outside of working hours.
•    Saturday and Sunday the team will be working to complete a missed service at 128 The Street- no carriageway incursion during this work.

Next week
•    Complete the work in the footpath at Long Lane by Wednesday
•    Shut the valve for the old main between Budgens roundabout to Ormesby cottage- this should be very quick and if this requires any carriageway incursion we will use stop and go boards.
•    Once the above works are complete, we will install 2 way lights at 96 the street (next to Budgens roundabout ) to complete the decommissioning of the above main.

I will update you on our progress toward the end of next week- when I should be able to give a better idea of completion day at 96 The Street.
We do not expect to need to use any further traffic management on this scheme. There will be some decommissioning work to complete on the fiveway roundabout itself and in other locations but we don’t expect to need to impact the highway.

Anglian Water Update 05.01.18

From the Anglian Water Project Lead
Apologies for not letting you know of this work in advance.

I was advised at the start of the week that there was no traffic management planned for this week but circumstances have changed and three way lights have been put in place on Caistor Lane. I am very sorry for this breakdown in communication and therefore for not giving you prior warning.

You may recall from previous communications that we were unable to complete the decommissioning when last working at Caistor Lane, due to a stuck valve.

The team have now returned to free the stuck valve and to cut and cap the main. The valve was successfully freed this morning but the engineer had to be protected by traffic lights to safely complete this. The site manage made the decision to have his men dig down and cut and cap the main as soon as the valve was freed to prevent us having to remove the lights and then put them back again at a later date. The main is 1.4metres deep so there is a lot of associated excavation and reinstatement works involved, therefore the team hope to complete this work by the middle of next week.

The site manager has acknowledged that there were long queues of traffic at around 5pm and he reported this to the traffic management company immediately- they are manning the lights during peak hours and we have ensured that they do everything possible to ease the flow of traffic at these times.

Following this the team are going to be working on Long Lane but no traffic management is required for that section of decommissioning work.

I have a meeting with the construction manager on Monday to review the rest of their plans for the decommissioning of this scheme and will update you further following that.

I have also reminded the team to ensure that I am updated as soon as anything changes on site so that I can give you advance warning.
