Anglian Water Update 11.01.18

11/1/2018

Please see below update on our decommissioning works in the area:

This week
•    Caistor Lane is currently being reinstated and we hope to remove the temporary traffic lights by 4pm today.
•    3-way temporary traffic lights will be erected at Arminghall lane tomorrow morning to complete the decommissioning work at this location. We hope to complete this section and remove the temporary traffic lights this Saturday. The site manager intends to only have these traffic lights in place during work hours, unless it becomes unsafe to remove them outside of working hours.
•    Saturday and Sunday the team will be working to complete a missed service at 128 The Street- no carriageway incursion during this work.

Next week
•    Complete the work in the footpath at Long Lane by Wednesday
•    Shut the valve for the old main between Budgens roundabout to Ormesby cottage- this should be very quick and if this requires any carriageway incursion we will use stop and go boards.
•    Once the above works are complete, we will install 2 way lights at 96 the street (next to Budgens roundabout ) to complete the decommissioning of the above main.

I will update you on our progress toward the end of next week- when I should be able to give a better idea of completion day at 96 The Street.
We do not expect to need to use any further traffic management on this scheme. There will be some decommissioning work to complete on the fiveway roundabout itself and in other locations but we don’t expect to need to impact the highway.

There are two way traffic lights just over the Elvins roundabout. Cannot see this listed on the latest update!

Anglian Water have advised that where possible they will use stop-go boards but in some places they will need traffic management. They are undertaking decommissioning works and should be finished very soon.

Hi Catherine
Reference Anglian Water's response on 5th & 11th Jan, i can see they are carrying out decommissioning works but at no point did the project lead mention more work near Elvins! Is this because yet again, he was unaware what his team were doing (re Caister Lane 5th Jan!) And as mentioned by another resident....yet again no traffic management in place, despite the project lead saying he was liaising with the traffic management team to update him as soon as anything changes on site so he can give the residents advance warning. AGAIN, this did not happen! It really does seem like they can do what they like, how they like, with no regard for the residents of Poringland. Surely Anglian Water have to be held accountable for their extremely poor management of this project?

Traffic lights installed again without any mention in the Anglian Water update. Lights unmanned and causing very long tailbacks tonight 17 Jan. Where is the council in holding this company to account?

I will ask Anglian Water to clarify their peak times for manning these lights.

Yet again Anglian Water have put traffic lights on the B1332, with no advance notice, and no one managing the lights at peak times. This is such a regular occurance that I am no longer surprised. The usual story is that the lights go up, no traffic management is in place, we complain, the traffic management is then put in place, the traffic management then cannot work out which way cars and buses go at peak times, eventually they get it right and it seems to work, then the work stops. Finally the pattern starts all over again.

For two years now the residents of the village have been raising concerns of the traffic control and for two years our concerns have not listened to. Anglian Water will continue to treat the residents with contempt as there are simply no consequences for them to do otherwise. We have seen that both the Parish and County Council cannot impose anything on Anglian Water for the delays and disruption caused by their poor management of this project. I fully expect further disruption in the months to come, with poorly managed traffic lights, and more delays. I think that it is about time the council explored compensation for residents of the villages with Anglian Water (I'm sure their profits could stand this) and a commitment to pressurise Anglian Water to make things work better.

How much longer do we have to put up with these traffic lights and disruptions. It's beyond ridiculous.

I have asked Anglian Water to confirm their expected finish date.
