Chris Skinner is the heart and soul of High Ash Farm, a stunning haven for wildlife located just 3 miles south of Norwich at Caistor St Edmund, nestled in beautiful woodland and rolling countryside.
High Ash Farm is a shining example of biodiversity in action with over half the farm dedicated to wildlife crops. Thanks to Chris’ deep knowledge and passion for nature, the farm teems with life - think foxes and their cubs, noisy rooks, majestic birds of prey, singing skylarks, chattering sparrows and gliding barn owls. It is a place, where nature thrives and there is always something magical to see.
High Ash Farm warmly welcomes the public offering over 5 miles of grass tracks for walking including a section of Boudicca’s Way. These paths are designed for easy strolling, wide enough for three people to walk side by side - perfect for enjoying a chat whilst soaking in the surroundings.
As a Norfolk farmer, Chris has always done things differently, prioritising wildlife conservation in every practice. Many of you might remember him from his Sony Award-winning days on BBC Radio with ‘The Country Side Hour.’
After the BBC reorganisation, Chris brought his passion onto a new platform launching “Chris Skinners’ Countryside Podcasts” last year with broadcaster Matthew Gudgin. The podcast, which explores nature, wildlife and rural life through walks around High Ash Farm and beyond, has garnered over 1,000,000 downloads - proof of Chris’ enduring connection with his audience.
Tune in every Sunday morning to ‘Chris Skinners Countryside Podcasts’ to hear Chris and Matthew answer listener questions and share the wonders of the world.
And there’s more exciting news! Later this year, Chris and Matthew will take to the stage at Norwich Maddermarket Theatre for a special afternoon of wildlife chats and Q&A.
